Environmental Specialist

The Environmental Planning department of Metric Engineering, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Environmental Specialist with 3-7 years of professional experience for a full‑time position. Desired location is in Northwest Florida but candidates statewide with relevant experience will also be considered. Applicants should hold a B.S. or similar degree in environmental science or a related field. The role involves developing NEPA documentation to support federally‑funded transportation, disaster recovery, low‑income housing, and community development projects. Typical duties include conducting environmental reviews that require GIS and technical reporting, and communicating with clients and stakeholders. Salary and benefits are competitive; the position is hybrid, combining office, remote, and field work. Day‑to‑Day Coordinating across the Metric team on multiple projects and tasks Communicating with clients and regulatory agencies GIS analysis and data collection Leading development of environmental documentation Technical report writing/editing Field surveys and site inspections Maintaining strict regulatory records Managing official correspondence and public notifications Quality assurance/quality control Required Qualifications Education: B.S. or B.A. degree in natural or environmental sciences or planning (or similar field) Excellent technical writing and communication skills Florida driver’s license Familiarity with MS Office Suite Proficiency with map data/GIS Preferred Capabilities Experience with NEPA and HUD Grant Programs (e.g., CDBG, CDBG‑DR, HOME, ESG) We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
