Cardiovascular Invasive Tech

The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is accountable to surgically scrub in and help with equipment. Helps the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures as a secondary assignment. Prepares room and equipment, transports and monitors patients. May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities.

Essential functions of the role include helping physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy. Related duties include preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures; printing film and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases; circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms; monitoring patient's ECG and vital signs while in Catheterization Lab, notifying physician of variances, and providing emergency procedures (CPR, defibrillation, etc.) as needed.

Key success factors include one year of clinical experience preferred, use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required, ability to multi-task and problem solving skills, ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility, knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques, knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, less than one year of experience, and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS (ACLS): Must obtain ACLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
