The City of Pearland, TX, is seeking to hire a full-time Municipal Court Clerk!Our Court Administrator earns a competitive salary of $39,985.14 to $46,899.92, based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance, plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. Our work environment is one where innovation is not only supported but encouraged. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COURT CLERKGeneral DescriptionThe purpose of this class within the organization is to perform routine clerical and administrative functions related to the procedures, laws, and record-keeping tasks required of a Municipal Court of Record. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Assists with administrative duties for the court, as assigned, which include processing paperwork; scanning and printing documents; data entry, retrieving accident and incident reports; and updating and maintaining various schedules and listings.Provides customer service to citizens, defendants, parents of defendants, and other parties by phone and in person, i.e. answers questions, takes payments, sets court dates, enters information in computer, prepares payment plans, receives required and/or court ordered documents such a copies of insurance, motor vehicle registration receipt, driving record, etc.Assists citizens with information regarding the entire municipal court process, i.e. options available, court procedures, etc.Prepares cases for court, processes judgments and dispositions, and enters case information into the court software system.Assists Judge and court personnel in the courtroom as needed.Prepares and maintains court files, both manual and computerized, including data entry and digital imaging.Reviews court files for compliance of Judge's orders and prepares arrest warrants for issuance in cases of noncompliance.Runs routine reports from court software system.Knowledgeable about the entire municipal court process.Generates correspondence and documentation to defendants and attorneys related to court case files such as court summonses, letters, promises to appear, document receipts, etc.Reviews work for accuracy and completeness.Processes incoming and outgoing mail.Assists citizens with general information about the City and its services, and directs inquiries to the appropriate department.Receives payments for Municipal Court fines and fees as well as cash bond payments in the form of cash, check, money order, and credit card.Communicate effectively and courteously with customers and other City employees.Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.Acts in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers and others. Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsRequires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college.Three to five years of increasingly responsible clerical/administrative experience or closely related experience. Special Certifications and Licenses:Texas Municipal Court Clerk Certification Level I, preferred.Valid Texas Driver's LicenseFingerprint for CJIS/TLETS
