BILINGUAL PHARMACY TECHNICIAN - PRIOR AUTHORIZATION

Job Overview

Our client in the health insurance industry is seeking a Bilingual Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization to support members, healthcare providers, and pharmacists with medication-related inquiries and prior authorization processes.

This position offers Pharmacy Technicians the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a fast-paced administrative healthcare environment. The selected candidate will handle inbound and outbound calls, review prior authorization information, explain pharmacy benefits, and accurately document each interaction while navigating multiple computer systems.

This opportunity is ideal for a Pharmacy Technician who is fully bilingual, detail-oriented, comfortable working with technology, and interested in expanding their experience within the health insurance industry. After successfully completing the required on-site training, the position transitions to a remote work model.

Job Responsibilities

• Receive inbound calls from members, physicians, healthcare providers, and pharmacists.

• Conduct outbound calls when follow-up, additional information, or consultation is required.

• Process prior authorization requests using multiple computer systems.

• Review and accurately enter member, provider, medication, and authorization information.

• Update case information and documentation as additional details become available.

• Explain prior authorization requirements, appeal processes, and general pharmacy benefit information.

• Navigate multiple systems simultaneously to research inquiries and provide accurate medication or clinical information.

• Apply established benefit-plan criteria and clinical guidelines to support authorization determinations and recommendations.

• Gather additional information from members, providers, pharmacists, and internal resources when needed.

• Collaborate with team members to interpret guidelines and resolve complex cases.

• Identify problems and determine appropriate solutions independently or in collaboration with the team.

• Document all calls, actions, information received, and case outcomes accurately.

• Maintain the confidentiality of member and healthcare information.

• Meet established expectations for quality, productivity, accuracy, and attendance.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Valid, unrestricted Puerto Rico Pharmacy Technician license or active Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification.

• Professional verbal and written proficiency in English and Spanish.

• Must successfully complete an English proficiency assessment as part of the selection process.

• Proficiency using Windows-based computers and applications.

• Ability to learn and navigate multiple complex computer systems simultaneously.

• Strong communication, active-listening, problem-solving, and data-entry skills.

• Ability to identify and resolve routine and complex issues independently and in a team environment.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

• Ability to communicate professionally with members, physicians, providers, and pharmacists.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Required Availability

• Full-time position: 40 hours per week.

• Must be available to work Monday through Friday during operating hours between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. AST .

• Must also have availability to work Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. AST , according to the assigned schedule.

• Occasional overtime may be required on weekends or holidays based on business needs.

Training

• Must be available to complete eight weeks of on-site process training in San Juan .

• Consistent attendance and full availability are required throughout the training period.

Work Model

• On-site during the eight-week training period.

• Remote work model after successfully completing training.

• Candidates must have an appropriate workspace and meet all company requirements for remote work.

Compensation

• $15.00 per hour

• Full-time position
