Welder - Manufacturing

The Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welds on carbon steel and stainless steel using a variety of welding processes including FCAW in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, as well as GTAW. This position involves the setup and operation of automatic, semi-automatic, and manual welding equipment. Welders are expected to follow technical drawings and specifications to ensure that all work meets Holtec's rigorous quality standards. Candidate should be proficient in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) to support the fabrication of critical components for the nuclear, energy, and heavy industrial sectors. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in multiple welding positions and processes and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and precision in a heavy-plate manufacturing environment.

Location : Camden, NJ

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform all work safely in compliance with Holtec safety policies and PPE requirements
• Prepare, position, align, and fit materials per engineering drawings, work orders, and WPS
• Execute welds in required positions meeting visual and radiographic (X-ray) standards
• Use measurement and layout tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Layout, tack, heat-bend, clamp, grind, and bolt components for proper alignment
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent distortion or overheating
• Visually inspect welds to ensure compliance with AWS and Holtec quality standards
• Operate manual, semi-automatic, and automatic welding equipment (GTAW, FCAW, SAW, plasma arc)
• Safely handle materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area

Requirements:

*Must pass pre-employment weld tests administered in accordance with Holtec's WPS requirements.

• High School diploma or GED required
• 2-4 years of welding experience in heavy plate manufacturing or industrial environments
• Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, or travel based on production needs.
• Ability to perform and pass FCAW weld tests in 2G and 3G positions
• Proficiency in FCAW and GTAW on carbon and stainless steel
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical documentation
• Working knowledge of AWS standards and industry best practices

• ASME Section IX and/or AWS D1.1/D1.6 certification preferred
• Experience in nuclear or high-spec industrial fabrication environments preferred
• Multi-process welding experience (SMAW, GMAW, SAW) preferred
• Familiarity with digital weld documentation and inspection tools preferred

Hourly compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $30.00/HR to $43.00/HR
