Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Must hold a valid nursing license prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, PALS; preferred NIH, TNCC Must-Have: Must have at least Level 2 trauma experience. Description: This is a trauma center with 48 beds that can flex up to 62 beds total using hall beds if needed. Never staff more than a 1:4 ratio for regular emergency department patients. Hold assignments could include a ratio of 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds. This emergency department averages 6.6 behavioral health patients per day. Candidates must be comfortable moving forward. First-time travelers are accepted. Must be willing to work charge. Candidates must float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed. Floating is 100% required of all travelers. Patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. The unit exhibits daily census of 179 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary. Experience is required in general emergency department, combined adult/pediatrics, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, phlebotomy, starting IVs, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation administration, CPAP/BiPAP, care of ventilated patients, and isolation precautions. Travelers must have acute psychosis experience and expertise in managing asthma, gunshot wounds, head injuries, near drowning, ortho trauma, and spinal cord injuries. Demonstrated skills in procedural sedation administration and monitoring are essential. Candidates must have STEMI certified facility and stroke certified facility experience. Emergency department experience must include level 2 trauma. Candidates must be able to interpret dysrhythmias and follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols. The unit will not accept local candidates from specific areas. Candidates will be required to provide two supervisor references. Any permanent or PRN employee must be away for 12 months before applying as a traveler.
