Key Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans; explains purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and provides discharge education
• Operates various ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
• Performs chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, arterial puncture, and routine chest x-ray review
• Performs 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Assists with procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and performs tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
• Sets up, self-tests, operates, maintains, and monitors mechanical ventilation equipment; records all pertinent treatment information and patient responses in the patient chart

Required Qualifications

• Active and valid Respiratory Therapist license
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to work with minimal supervision within the scope of professional licensure
• Experience operating invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with video laryngoscope systems and endotracheal tube insertion and removal
• Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing policies and procedures
• Experience assisting with bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placements
