The Orlando Health Children's Heart Institute is seeking a Full-time Pediatric Cardiac ICU Advanced Practice Provider to join their devoted team. The position requires shift coverage to include days, nights, and weekends to meet the needs of the unit and patient care requirements.

The Pediatric CICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works collaboratively with supervising physicians, fellows, and other APP colleagues to provide inpatient management of critically ill patients with complex congenital and acquired heart disease.

Responsibilities Essential Functions:

• Inpatient Coverage: The APP will play a critical role in the management of critically ill patients with complex congenital and acquired heart disease. The APP will collaborate closely with attending physicians, fellows, nurses, and other team members to deliver high-quality, family-centered care for patients in the CICU setting. No outpatient or surgical coverage is expected.
• Daily Patient Management: Develop, implement and continually update individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team. Present patients during daily multidisciplinary rounds, providing accurate and concise clinical updates and assessments. Monitor and evaluate patient progress, responding promptly to changes in condition and escalating care when appropriate.
• Procedural Duties: Perform a variety of bedside procedures within the scope of practice and hospital credentialing. Procedures may include but are not limited to intubation, central line insertion, arterial line insertion, and chest tube placement. Assist CT surgery team with post-operative ICU care, including but not limited to removal of chest tubes and pacing wires.
• Documentation and Communication: Maintain timely, thorough, and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. Participate in hand-offs to ensure safe continuity of care between shifts. Communicate effectively with patients and families, updating them regularly on care plans and changes in patient status.
• Quality Improvement, Research and Education: Attend and contribute to educational conferences, unit-based quality initiatives and continuing education activities to improve patient care and promote evidence-based practice. Provide pediatric CICU department education and be a constant resource on the unit. Support the education of students, residents, advanced practice provider fellows, and new team members when applicable.
• Operations: Attend and participate in weekly pediatric combined cardiology-cardiac surgery conferences and cardiac grand rounds. Attend pediatric CICU provider meetings, staff meetings, and department meetings. The APP is encouraged to attend medical PIPS review, surgical PIPS review, and APP council meetings when able.
• PTO: Requests for PTO must be made at least 30 days in advance according to OH policy. However, operational needs may require additional notice. PTO requests are granted on a first come first serve basis. Holiday Coverage: All 3 minor and 3 major Holidays will require APP coverage and be rotated equally amongst the APP clinical staff. Holidays are defined as follows per OH Policy: 3 minors include Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day; 3 Majors include Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Hours: The APP will be expected to provide shift coverage, which may include day, night, and weekend coverage. Shifts may vary depending on census and level of acuity within the unit to provide optimal patient care.

Qualifications Education/Training Graduate of an accredited Advanced Practice Provider program including Physician Assistant (PA-C) Studies or Masters Degree in Nursing (APRN). APRNs must have an Acute Care certification. Experience Preferred experience in pediatric cardiology, pediatric cardiac intensive care, pediatric intensive care, or another pediatric acute care setting. New graduate applicants welcome. Licensure/Certification Current, valid Florida APRN or PA-C license. Current national board certification: Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Nurse Practitioners must have an Acute Care certification. Current PALS, ACLS and BLS certifications.
