• Patient Population: Adults with neurological, neurosurgical, and neurovascular conditions
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:2 on days, nights, and weekends
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Orientation: 12 hours
• Additional Expectations: Ability to float to other units or facilities when needed and when appropriately qualified

Travel Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• At least 2 years of recent acute-care nursing experience; Neuro ICU experience preferred
• Teaching-hospital experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Strong Epic documentation experience
• Preferred experience with neurocritical care, trauma ICU, EVDs, intracranial pressure monitoring, and post-neurosurgical patients
• Ability to provide two professional references from a recent employer

Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a Neuro ICU setting.
• Monitor and manage patients with acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, intracranial pressure concerns, neurosurgical conditions, and multisystem organ dysfunction.
• Care for patients requiring ventilator support, continuous sedation, vasoactive infusions, neuromuscular blockade, CRRT, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
• Manage and assess EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino BOLTs, arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and other specialized equipment.
• Interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases, obtain 12-lead ECGs, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
• Administer blood products, emergency medications, TPN/lipids, and procedural sedation in accordance with established standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Document accurately in Epic and support safe transitions of care.
• Float to other qualified units or facilities as operational needs require.
