JUNIOR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

Position mission: Perform hands-on system administration and sustainment tasks under the technical direction of senior infrastructure or PAM personnel.

Duties:

• Administer assigned Windows and Linux systems.
• Maintain user, service, and system accounts as authorized.
• Support Active Directory administration.
• Execute approved patching, updates, and configuration changes.
• Collect system-performance data and assist with diagnosis of degradation or failures.
• Review system logs and escalate complex findings.
• Support backup, recovery, and restoration activities.
• Maintain configuration records, system inventories, and operating documentation.
• Support test-environment configuration, patch validation, and test-data controls.
• Assist with Nutanix operations where assigned.
• Assist with CyberArk privileged-account onboarding, credential rotation, policy administration, session monitoring, and issue resolution where assigned.
• Support commercial internet troubleshooting and test/development network maintenance when assigned.
• Verify system operation after approved changes.

MANDATORY SECURITY COMPLIANCE (DoD 8570 / DoD 8140)

To be eligible for technical review and corporate submittal to the Air Force Contracting Officer, candidates MUST meet the requirements of OPTION A or OPTION B below. Applications failing to demonstrate at least one pathway will be automatically archived.

  Candidate must hold ONE active, verifiable commercial certification from the approved DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II list below. Please include your certification number and expiration date directly on your resume draft.

• CySA+ CE – CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst
• GICSP – Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional
• GSEC – GIAC Security Essentials Certification

• SSCP – Systems Security Certified Practitioner

• OPTION B (8140):

Candidate must hold a relevant computer or technology degree (Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Systems, or Information Technology) AND demonstrate documented, hands-on professional experience installing, configuring, and updating server hardware/software, managing user infrastructure accounts, or implementing system backup and recovery tasks within a controlled environment.

Requirements :

• Actual system-administration duties rather than help-desk-only experience.
• Windows or Linux server administration.
• Active Directory, account administration, patching, backups, or system monitoring.
• Change-ticket or configuration-record experience.
• Examples of troubleshooting from logs or system data.
• Experience supporting a controlled test or production environment.
• CyberArk or Nutanix exposure when the candidate is being considered for the corresponding assignment.

Access requirement: Where the assignment requires root access, the candidate must be able to obtain the favorable trustworthiness determination based on an SSBI.

Anticipated start: September 28, 2026

Primary work location: Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. Occasional work at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Work schedule: An eight-hour shift scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time, Monday through Friday. The team must collectively provide overlapping coverage during that window. COOP support may be required, but work will remain within a 40-hour workweek unless the Contracting Officer authorizes otherwise.

Project Length: Up to 4.5 years
