Travel RN Case Manager

Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced RN Case Manager for a travel assignment in Santa Monica, California. This role supports an acute care hospital case management team focused on utilization review, care coordination, and discharge planning for adult and geriatric patients.

Assignment details:

• 13-week contract
• Day shift 5x8s (08:0016:30)
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend, minimum 2 shifts in a 4-week schedule
• Caseload: approximately 2022 patients per day
• Patient ratio: 1:20
• Floating required within system as needed

Clinical responsibilities:

• Perform utilization review using InterQual criteria
• Coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Conduct admission reviews and determine level of care appropriateness
• Collaborate with physicians, social services, and interdisciplinary teams
• Facilitate prior authorizations and insurance coordination
• Assess patient needs including DME and post-acute care services
• Develop and manage individualized care plans
• Document in Epic EMR system

Work environment:

Acute care hospital, case management and utilization review department, adult and geriatric patient population, dress code: business casual with lab coat or dark solid scrubs with lab coat.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years acute care hospital inpatient Case Manager experience REQUIRED
• Experience must be current within last 6 months (HARD STOP)
• RN license (CA) REQUIRED
• Epic charting experience REQUIRED (HARD STOP)
• InterQual experience REQUIRED (HARD STOP)
• Experience with care coordination and discharge planning REQUIRED
• Experience with admission reviews REQUIRED
• Must be comfortable managing high caseloads (20+ patients)
• Travel experience REQUIRED (seasoned traveler preferred)
• Must meet 50-mile radius rule
• Locals accepted at lower rate
• RTO must be submitted with application (7 days max recommended)

• Must commit to weekend requirements
• Must work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• 2 supervisory references required covering 1 year within last 3 years
• Modules non-billable (avg 16 hours)
• Must submit skills checklist with profile
