Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry and stepdown-level care experience with active IL licensure.

Details

• Work in the PCU/Stepdown unit of a hospital setting
• Cares for patients with respiratory insufficiency, cardiac disease, acute MI, neurological disorders, and CVA
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00), 3x12s also accepted
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Float required within scope to same level of care or one step below (Med Surg)
• Uses BIPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) equipment
• Performs procedures including thoracentesis, chemical cardioversion, and electrocardioversion
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required, in hand prior to start
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with bedside hemodialysis, endoscope, chest tubes, EEG, cardioversion, arterial lines, and high flow O2 delivery required
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with heparin protocols and cardiac drip management (no titration)
• Experience in wound care and isolation precautions/PPE
• Must have RTO scheduled at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide bedside care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, and neurological conditions requiring close monitoring
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates residing within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and not accepted for this position
• Cannot have worked as a traveler for over 1 year without taking a required 6-month break before returning
