Nurse Aide

The Position

As a Nurse Aide with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home, you will take on an important role that supports veterans and their spouses in their daily routines. Description Of Work

This position focuses on providing non-professional nursing care and supporting daily routines for residents at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

• Resident Support: Assist residents with daily activities, grooming, meals, transfers, and restorative programs
• Care Observation: Observe resident conditions, report changes, answer call bells, and participate in shift-to-shift updates
• Equipment Use: Apply stockings, elastic bandages, and skin care products, and gather vital signs and related information
• Room Care: Maintain tidy resident rooms, remove hazards or obstacles, report concerns, and support a homelike environment
• Transport Assistance: Escort residents to appointments, move residents safely, and monitor outdoor areas when needed
• Documentation Tasks: Record all care and services provided in compliance with regulatory requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
• Work hours will be determined from the following shifts, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and be required to work every other weekend.
• 2nd shift: 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM
• 3rd shift: 10:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
• This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirement:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
• Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
