In this role, you'll be entrusted with the care and well-being of residents during transport and will represent Americare through professionalism, compassion, honesty, integrity, and respect.SummaryThe Transportation Aide is responsible for driving facility vehicles to transport residents to appointments, activities, and other approved destinations. This role also includes assisting residents during transport, ensuring safety, and maintaining a calm, supportive environment throughout the trip.This role may also be known as:Transportation Aide, Driver Aide, Resident Transportation Assistant, or Transport Assistant.What You'll DoSafely operate facility vehicles to transport residents to and from scheduled destinationsAssist residents with entering and exiting vehicles, including mobility and safety supportProvide supervision and attentive care to residents during transportMaintain a courteous, respectful, and compassionate demeanor at all timesEnsure resident safety by following transportation and safety protocolsCommunicate effectively with nursing staff regarding resident needs or concernsMaintain cleanliness and basic safety checks of assigned vehicleProtect resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelinesRepresent Americare positively when interacting with residents, families, and community partnersWhat You BringQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum 20 years of ageCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification requiredValid, unrestricted driver's licenseAcceptable driving record in accordance with company policySkills & AbilitiesAbility to remain calm, patient, and attentive while transporting residentsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsCommitment to safety, reliability, and professionalismPhysical DemandsLift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as neededPush, pull, and maneuver up to 100 lbs., including resident mobility assistanceManeuver resident wheelchairs weighing up to 350 lbs.Safety RequirementsFollow all transportation safety procedures and two-person assist guidelines when requiredUtilize required PPE and safety equipmentReport work-related injuries within 12 hours and complete required documentationParticipate in company drug testing proceduresAdhere to safe driving practices, including seatbelt use and no cell phone use while drivingWork EnvironmentThis role involves driving company vehicles and assisting residents in and out of facilities, medical offices, and community destinations.
