Now Hiring: Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operators & Locators

Location: Project Sites Throughout the United States (On-Site Position)

 

Vencer Drilling is seeking experienced Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operators and HDD Locators to join our growing team. These are travel-based, on-site positions requiring candidates to work at project locations throughout the United States. Job site assignments are determined based on operational needs. These positions are not remote .

Responsibilities

• Operate electronic locating equipment to accurately track the drill head throughout the bore.
• Maintain constant communication with the drill operator to ensure proper bore depth, alignment, and steering.
• Read and interpret utility locates, construction drawings, and bore plans.
• Verify existing underground utilities and help prevent utility conflicts and damage.
• Monitor drill progress and make recommendations for steering adjustments when necessary.
• Assist with potholing, utility verification, and job site preparation.
• Complete daily production reports and required project documentation.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of locating equipment
• Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices,
• Travel to assigned project sites as required.

 

Qualifications

• Previous HDD locating experience required.
• Experience locating for underground telecommunications, fiber optic, gas, electric, or water utility installations.
• Ability to drill in various soil conditions (rock drilling experience a plus)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of HDD safety standards and underground utility locating practices.
• Valid driver's license required (CDL is considered an asset).
• Willingness to travel throughout the United States.
• Ability to work long hours, overtime, and weekends as project demands require.

 

Work Environment

• On-site construction projects throughout the United States.
• Outdoor work in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Physically demanding work requiring lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Frequent travel with project assignments based on operational needs.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required.
• Per diem and travel accommodations may be provided depending on the project.
