Location Avera Orthopedics, Aberdeen Position Highlights PRN, Day Shift, pay range $27.75 - $41.25, schedule varied, as needed. Overview Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and families. Communicates with physicians and healthcare team to provide excellent patient care. Responsibilities Perform general nursing care and administer medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Coordinate patient care activities for the clinic and prepare equipment to assist provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing. Observe, record, and report patient condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider. Oversee appointment scheduling and ensure preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintain timely flow of patients, greet patients, and prepare them for physical examination. Screen patients for appropriate information, obtain health history, take vitals, and conduct a nursing assessment. Document information in patient chart and instruct patient in collection of samples and tests. Respond to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician. Educate patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness. Suggest solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints. Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials, ensuring cleanliness. Prepare list of medical supplies needed and assure appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to laboratory protocol. Perform quality control and maintain records on all lab testing. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) – active license in the state of practice. Ability to perform each essential job function satisfactorily, including visual acuity, effective communication, hearing, understanding and distinguishing speech and other sounds. Education, license, certification or work experience as listed above.
