Component Engineer Support Specialist

Salary: $100,219 - 111,180 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline, or an equivalent blend of education and relevant experience.
• We require at least 2 years of experience in component engineering, hardware engineering, electronic parts management, or a closely related field.
• We need demonstrated knowledge of electrical and mechanical hardware, as well as chemical products such as paints, solvents, adhesives, and thermal materials.
• We expect experience reading, interpreting, and applying manufacturer datasheets and technical documentation.
• We require experience partnering with suppliers and manufacturers on end-of-life and obsolescence management.
• We need proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and product data management systems such as GDMS ePDM-Windchill, CIMA, or similar tools.
• We require U.S. citizenship.
• We look for an independent self-starter with strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• We require strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

• We process New Part Requests using our ePDM configuration management database.
• We evaluate electrical/electronic parts, mechanical hardware, and chemical-based materials to understand their function and manufacturing sources.
• We distinguish between basic model numbers and fully orderable part numbers, including how configuration and packaging are controlled by manufacturers.
• We analyze datasheets, manufacturer websites, and military or industry specifications to identify the key parameters needed for accurate, standards-based part descriptions.
• We determine whether part numbers are governed by military, national aerospace, NEMA, or other government and industry standards, or whether they are commercial manufacturer numbers.
• We use component intelligence tools such as SiliconExpert, IHS Haystack, or similar platforms for lifecycle and availability analysis.
• We review and interpret GIDEP notices to assess whether electronic parts or mechanical hardware are affected.
• We manage multiple concurrent tasks and coordinate small and large assignments on a scheduled basis.
• We apply the processes and principles defined in our Component Engineering documentation and Common Process Framework.
