Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantMG Moving Services is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This role is responsible for supporting core accounting functions, maintaining financial accuracy, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and providing financial reporting and analysis to leadership. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger adjustments.Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.Analyze financial transactions and ensure accurate recording in accordance with accounting principles.Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including invoice review, payment processing, and collections.Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts.Generate and review aging reports and follow up on outstanding customer balances.Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.Identify accounting discrepancies and proactively recommend corrective actions.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company financial regulations and policies.Collaborate with operations and management teams to improve financial reporting and internal controls.Assist with audits, tax preparation, and other regulatory reporting requirements.Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience required.Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis.Experience with accounting software; QuickBooks experience preferred.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.CPA designation or CPA-track candidate preferred but not required.BenefitsCompetitive compensation based on experience.Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.401(k) retirement program with company matching.Paid time off and company holidays.Professional development and advancement opportunities.Collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
