SALESFORCE SOLUTION ARCHITECT

Location: Boston, MA
Duration: 10 Months
Job Type: Contract

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly experienced, well-organized, and results-driven Salesforce Solution Architect with a strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, best practices, and the ability to align technology solutions with business objectives.

The Salesforce Solution Architect will play a critical role in designing and overseeing the implementation of a large-scale Licensing, Permitting, and Inspection (LPI) solution built on the Salesforce platform.

The ideal candidate will provide strategic and technical leadership across Salesforce, MuleSoft, integrations, data architecture, security, and enterprise systems while ensuring that solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with established enterprise architecture standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Business Alignment & Solution Design

• Partner closely with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable Salesforce architecture and solution designs.
• Present viable solution options, architectural approaches, and design trade-offs to support informed decision-making.
• Ensure current and future designs align with enterprise architecture standards, data governance requirements, and security policies.
• Consult throughout the design process using the Salesforce Public Sector Solutions object model to identify optimal solution approaches.

End-to-End Solution Architecture

• Coordinate with implementation partners on the design and implementation of an integrated Salesforce solution encompassing multiple modules and interfaces with multiple enterprise systems.
• Review and refine overall system architecture, including data flows, integration points, and component interactions across Salesforce, MuleSoft, and connected systems .
• Ensure consistency and coherence of architecture across multiple workstreams and prevent siloed technical decisions.
• Review, refine, and build upon Salesforce functional and technical documentation.
• Ensure documentation and designs follow architectural best practices for performance, flexibility, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Review technical designs and provide architectural insights and recommendations for existing functionality and proposed enhancements.
• Provide strategic oversight and governance of the end-to-end solution architecture.
• Ensure solution designs are scalable, secure, interoperable, and compliant with applicable enterprise technology standards.
• Evaluate Salesforce product releases, roadmap features, and emerging capabilities and advise on their applicability to the implementation.

Integration & Data Architecture

• Collaborate with integration and data teams to define and optimize interfaces between Salesforce and other enterprise systems.
• Analyze technical interdependencies and assess the impact of proposed changes on connected systems.
• Guide data modeling, master data management, and synchronization strategies.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across platforms.
• Provide technical guidance on Salesforce integration technologies, including:
  • SOAP API
  • REST API
  • Bulk API
• Review integration architecture and recommend improvements to performance, reliability, and scalability.

Technical Leadership & Governance

• Provide technical leadership and direction to the internal Salesforce development team.
• Mentor developers and provide guidance on Salesforce architecture, development standards, and best practices.
• Develop solution designs and code that comply with established architectural standards.
• Establish and enforce technical governance aligned with enterprise architecture and security requirements.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce Salesforce development and coding standards.
• Review technical deliverables for compliance with architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Provide governance and best practices throughout the full application lifecycle, including:
  • Solution design
  • Development
  • Change control
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Deployment
  • Production support

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with technical and functional workstreams and external implementation partners to ensure cohesive solution delivery.
• Identify opportunities to optimize architecture, improve system performance, and maximize Salesforce platform capabilities.
• Stay current with Salesforce and integration-platform releases and advise stakeholders on enhancements and roadmap impacts.
• Review existing implementation and configuration approaches to identify gaps, risks, optimization opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Evaluate custom code, configurations, and integrations and recommend improvements where appropriate.
• Apply Agile and DevOps methodologies throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Experience with Copado and CI/CD pipelines is highly valuable.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration , or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
• Relevant Salesforce certifications are required .
• Experience with Salesforce Public Sector Solutions is preferred.
