Credit Officer

$88.54k - $110.67k

Local Initiative Support Corporation

About LISC LISC is one of the country's largest community development organizations, helping forge vibrant, resilient communities across America. LISC works with residents and partners to close gaps in health, wealth, and opportunity so that people and places can thrive. We do this by acting as a conduit for grants, loans and equity—and by providing technical assistance and capacity building—to locally rooted organizations that carry out the work in communities. Position Description LISC is seeking qualified candidates for a Credit Officer position. This position will be part of LISC's Lending Department and report to LISC's Senior Vice President, Chief Credit Officer. The Credit Officer will be responsible for loan pipeline management in partnership with the originations team, coordinating credit review and approvals, reviewing credit memos for adherence to underwriting and credit approval requirements, ensuring the integrity of loan and credit approval data, and supporting timely approval and closing of loans. The Credit Officer also provides technical and underwriting assistance to LISC Lending and local program staff on behalf of LISC local programs across a wide array of community and economic development product types and asset classes. The Credit Officer will work in concert with Lending, Finance and Legal department staff. Responsibilities Lending Process Manage weekly Credit Committee materials and meetings. This also includes distributing credit packages, serving as secretary for the meetings, and ensuring credit requirements are reflected in the meeting notes and credit memos. Coordinate and manage the review of loans and amendments approved by the Chief Credit Officer. Support the review and approval of all loan requests from intake through closing, working closely with Lending, Finance, and Legal staff. Conduct internal outreach on maturing loans, circulate status updates, and coordinate the review and approval of all amendment requests. Review final drafts of credit memos and ensure that underwriting requirements have been satisfied and all requested information and analysis has been incorporated in the memos. Prepare loan approval notification letters after loans have been approved at Credit Committee or by the Chief Credit Officer. Ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of data entered in Salesforce and other loan systems and that all required approvals for new loans and amendments have been recorded. Under the supervision of the Senior Credit Officer, review and analyze requests for recoverable grant financing. Collaborate with responsible stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and impact goals. Perform analysis on loan commitments and performance for ad hoc reports to senior management, including periodic reporting to ensure data integrity for LISC's impact metrics. Manage and update all credit policies and procedures including an underwriting manual. Serve as a back‑up to the Loan Support Specialist with regards to loan intake management and pipeline analysis. Communications & Training Develop and present trainings on topics such as the credit approval process, credit and sector analysis, updates to underwriting guidelines ordering and reviewing third‑party reports, and utilization of LISC lending systems. Provide technical assistance to Lending and local program staff on loan policies, procedures, and systems. Provide onboarding training to new staff on loan approval and amendment processes and requirements. Create marketing and communication materials to share with internal and external audiences including panel submissions to conferences, quarterly newsletters and pitch books for our existing and potential external financing sources. Perform other related duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum three (3) years of job‑related credit analysis experience. Demonstrated interest in a career in community development finance. Strong financial analysis skills, including ability to analyze financial statements, project development budgets, and project operating pro formas. Familiarity with government subsidies and tax credit programs supporting affordable housing. Strong written skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the LISC network of local and national programs and affiliates. Good organizational abilities, including ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Compensation LISC provides a competitive salary ($88,537-$110,671) and excellent fringe benefits for this position. *Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.
