- # PT Holiday Sales AssociatePORTAPosted about 20 hours agoSave this Listing---Part TimeNew York CityBoerum Hill, Brooklyn22/hrPORTA is seeking part-time Sales Associates for both ongoing and seasonal holiday positions at our Brooklyn storefront. Seasonal associates may have the opportunity to continue into regular part-time hours after the holiday season based on business needs and performance. We are looking for people who connect with PORTA’s point of view: an appreciation for objects, makers, materials, interiors, and the rituals of gathering around the table. For PORTA, the holiday season is especially gift-focused. Many customers arrive knowing who they are shopping for but not necessarily what they are looking for. We think of our associates as matchmakers, playing an important role in connecting customers with objects that feel right for the person receiving them by asking thoughtful questions, listening for useful details, and thinking creatively. This is a hands-on retail role that combines customer service with the practical work required to keep a small shop running. Associates move throughout the day between selling, gift wrapping, replenishment, fulfillment, receiving, merchandising, and organizing inventory.Responsibilities:-Welcome customers and help them find the right products or gifts through thoughtful conversation and creative problem solving. -Become familiar with PORTA’s assortment, makers, and product stories. -Process sales, returns, exchanges, and other POS transactions. -Maintain the sales floor through replenishment, merchandising, and display upkeep. -Receive, organize, and maintain inventory, back-stock, and packaging materials. -Gift wrap purchases accurately and efficiently. -Support web-order fulfillment, including picking, packing, and shipping orders. -Communicate customer feedback, inventory needs, and operational issues to the store team. What We're Looking For:-Prior experience in retail or another customer-facing role. -Availability at least four days per week between 9am and 7pm, including weekdays and weekends. -Holiday availability, including the busier weeks leading into Christmas. -Comfort working in a small-team environment where responsibilities overlap. -Ability to stand and move throughout a shift for extended periods. -Ability to lift and move at least 50 lbs.Especially Helpful:-Previous customer service experience through email, SMS, or other digital channels. -Previous e-commerce fulfillment or shipping experience. -Familiarity with Shopify, ShipStation, or similar retail/e-commerce systems.### About UsPORTA brings together European tableware and assorted home furnishings from around the world, with a focus on local craft, independent artisans, and objects made for everyday use. From the humble and hand-hewn to the polished and pristine, the assortment reflects the histories of the makers we work with, their lineages, travels, traditions, and evolving points of view. At the heart of PORTA is the belief that the environment around a table helps shape the moments that happen there—that lunch and dinner are opportunities to gather, talk, have fun, and reconnect. We look for objects that are beautiful, useful, and meant to be lived with every day. PORTA’s 450-square-foot storefront is located at 360 Atlantic Avenue, in the heart of Atlantic Avenue’s historic antiques row in Brooklyn.
