Position Overview As a Journeyperson Electrician, you will bring your licensed skill and craftsmanship to commercial electrical projects throughout the DMV area, working alongside our Lead Journeypersons and Foremen to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in the field. You will also run occasional service calls as scheduling and customer needs require. This is a skilled trade role - you will do the hands-on electrical work of the project without the responsibility of leading a crew or managing the overall job. You will, however, mentor and train assigned apprentices on the tasks you perform together. What You Will Be Doing Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, panels, and equipment on commercial project sites throughout the DMV area. Install conduit systems, feeder wire, and electrical panels in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. Troubleshoot electrical issues on-site and provide effective, code-compliant solutions. Identify and resolve safety hazards and code violations during every task and project phase. Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to guide installation and troubleshooting work. Measure, cut, and bend conduit to fit various installations. Perform safety checks on electrical equipment to ensure compliance with the NEC and all applicable safety regulations. Run occasional commercial or residential service calls as scheduling and customer needs require. Train, mentor, and provide hands-on guidance to assigned apprentices in electrical work, applicable codes, and safe work practices. Work cooperatively with the Lead Journeyperson or Foreman on assigned projects to execute the daily plan and meet job schedule and quality expectations. Communicate proactively with the Lead Journeyperson or Foreman regarding progress, on-site issues, and any needed materials. Assist in coordinating electrical work with other trades and subcontractors on-site to avoid conflicts and support efficient execution. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout each project. Represent the Company with professionalism and integrity when interacting with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, and inspectors. Adhere to all company policies, OSHA standards, safety protocols, and, when operating a company vehicle, all applicable vehicle policies and traffic laws. Required Qualifications Valid Maryland State Journeyperson Electrician License (or a valid license from a state with Maryland reciprocity), with a minimum of 2 years of commercial electrical field experience. (Required) High School Diploma or GED. (Required) Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable Maryland and Montgomery County codes. (Required) Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, and project specifications. (Required) Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. (Required) Ability to pass a background check and drug test. (Required)Strong proficiency in English - both written and verbal - to ensure effective communication with customers, team members, and the office. (Required) Ability to work with hand tools and safely operate power tools. (Required) Ability to lift 50+ pounds, squat, bend, and climb ladders as required by the job. (Required) Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, with attention to detail. (Required) Willingness to travel daily to job sites within the DMV service area. (Required) Preferred Qualifications OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. CPR / First Aid certification. Prior experience mentoring apprentices. Experience with Service Fusion or similar field service management software. Residential electrical service experience - helpful for occasional service call assignments.
