Travel RN Job Details Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse Healthcare Setting: Acute-care stepdown unit within a Level I trauma center Location: Morgantown, West Virginia Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090–$2,200 Assignment Duration: 13 weeks Start Date: October 16, 2026 End Date: January 15, 2027 Schedule: 36 hours per week; 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled Patient Ratio: Approximately 3:1 Call Requirement: None Charting: Electronic medical record experience preferred Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Requirements Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain licensure in West Virginia No minimum years of nursing experience required; new graduate nurses may be eligible Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, and prioritization skills Ability to provide safe nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Basic EKG interpretation skills; monitored beds and monitor technicians support the unit Ability to manage and titrate appropriate stepdown medications, including cardiac drips Willingness to float on a rotational basis with other unit staff Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical, cardiac, trauma, and complex progressive-care patients. Perform thorough nursing assessments and recognize changes in patient condition. Provide care for patients with traumatic injuries, respiratory conditions, complex wounds, surgical needs, and chronic ventilator or tracheostomy requirements. Monitor patients using continuous cardiac telemetry and collaborate with monitor technicians and the interdisciplinary care team. Interpret basic EKG rhythms and respond promptly to changes in cardiac status. Safely administer and titrate ordered medications, including Cardizem, labetalol, amiodarone, and other stepdown therapies. Support patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, or chronic ventilator management within the scope of the unit. Collaborate with nursing assistants, respiratory therapy, providers, and other members of the healthcare team. Promote patient safety, mobility, education, and continuity of care. Float as assigned on a rotational basis and participate in scheduled weekend and holiday coverage.
