About the Role The Area Lead Nurse will lead and mentor our support team, ensuring high‑quality patient care and operational efficiency. They will guide team members through developmental activities, support clinic performance, and uphold medical quality standards. Core Clinical Responsibilities Assist veterinarians in administering anesthetics, preparing patients for surgery and dental procedures, monitoring throughout surgery and recovery, and performing support therapy during and after operations. Assist in medical or surgical procedures such as irrigating wounds, medication administration, and bandaging. Perform clinical laboratory procedures, run in‑house diagnostics, or prepare samples for laboratory shipment and maintain lab logs. Take radiographs using a hands‑free method and keep patients, cages, and hospital environments clean and scent‑free. Admit and discharge patients per the doctor’s orders, ensuring patients are well‑groomed, alert, and have normal vital parameters. Answer client questions one‑on‑one regarding animal care, consulting with the veterinarian for items beyond scope. Prepare and administer or dispense medications per veterinarian instructions, logging controlled substances appropriately. Training Responsibilities Lead training for approximately three clinics in addition to the home clinic, upholding medical quality metrics defined in the Patient Care Index. Assist clinic managers in hiring nursing staff and participate in recruiting and recruitment marketing events. Collaborate with clinic managers to coordinate comprehensive onboarding for nursing teams. Support new clinic launches and train staff in Bond’s workflows. Maintain a skills checklist and development roadmap for each nurse, reviewing progression and contributing to performance reviews. Ensure high‑quality medical care by conducting audits and implementing quality improvement initiatives with clinic leadership. Develop training materials, deliver CE training, and host events with external nurses to support recruitment and learning. Leadership Skills Continuous learner dedicated to professional development. Supports veterinary quality, continually improving care across the clinic. Qualifications Veterinary technician certification or licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) regardless of state mandates. At least 4 years of experience as a veterinary technician. Preferred: prior managerial role within a veterinary clinic or similar healthcare setting.
