About the Position

Job Title: PACU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: - EPIC charting experience required - IV therapy skills including blood products, central/PICC line care, and IV starts - Respiratory care skills for ventilated patients and airway management - Neuro and cardiac monitoring experience - Surgical procedure knowledge Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in the PACU. The nurse will provide care for a diverse patient population, including adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Experience with a variety of surgical specialties is essential. The nurse will monitor and assess patients post-operatively. Responsibilities include management of IV therapies, respiratory care, and neuro assessments. Weekend shifts may be required, either every other week or 6 shifts within a 6-week block. The nurse may be required to participate in a call rotation based on staff sign-up. All requests for time off must be submitted with the application. Compliance with facility policies on call-off and holiday work is expected. The ability to float within skillset is required. This role involves working closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care. The PACU setting includes a daily census of 80-110 patients with a staffing ratio of 1 nurse to 2 patients.
