Job Title

RN (Registered Nurse) – ICU / MICU

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday for night shift)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical ICU with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex diagnoses including sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, and overdose
• Interpret EKG strips and monitor telemetry using Philips monitors; nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting their own strips
• Manage and titrate a wide variety of vasoactive and cardioactive drips per physician-outlined parameters
• Provide advanced care for ventilated patients, including management of arterial lines and central lines, as well as troubleshooting RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow)
• Float to lower levels of care as needed (stepdown: 3 patients; general med: 4 patients); travelers float first
• Maintain compliance with a drug-free campus policy; a negative drug screen for all panels is required

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, and care of the ventilated patient
• Demonstrated ability to interpret EKG strips and titrate vasopressors and cardioactive medications
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard contract rate; candidates within 50 miles are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior MICU or ICU experience with high-acuity patient populations
• Familiarity with Epic EMR
• Experience managing COVID-positive ICU patients
