THE POSITION

Join the Department of Transportation as a Transportation Automotive Equipment Specialist and play an important part in keeping our equipment in top condition. This role lets you work closely with skilled staff while supporting the maintenance of vehicles and tools that keep our communities moving. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the district by helping manage equipment maintenance, inspections, training, and fleet activity. As a Transportation Automotive Equipment Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

• Technical Guidance: Provide direction and assistance to maintenance staff to ensure compliance with equipment policies and standards
• Maintenance Oversight: Take part in inspections and review maintenance trends to support accurate reporting
• Fleet Support: Assist with scheduling and coordinating repairs and upkeep for the district pool car fleet
• Training Assistance: Help develop and support training programs for mechanics and equipment operators
• Inventory Coordination: Assist with annual equipment, radio, and tool inventory activities
• Equipment Operation: Operate CDL and non CDL equipment as needed while following all safety and testing requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years of journey level experience in the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel powered heavy construction and maintenance equipment; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid Class A or B Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License with Tanker (N) endorsement with the Air Brake (L) and (E) restrictions removed.
• This position requires possession of a valid Class 4 or 7 Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification.
• This position requires one year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
