Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Emergency Room. The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides care for patients of all age groups presenting with urgent and emergent medical, traumatic, neurologic, cardiac, respiratory, and behavioral health conditions. The position requires strong emergency nursing expertise, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to manage high-acuity patient needs in a fast-paced setting.

Job Details

• Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7:30 AM8:00 PM, totaling 36 hours per week. Every other weekend and holidays are required as scheduled. Scheduled on-call coverage is not required.
• Required Qualifications: Active Maryland or compact Registered Nurse license; three years of experience; travel experience required, with consideration for first-time travelers possessing five or more years of experience; experience caring for approximately four patients; electronic charting system experience; Trauma Level II experience; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge experience, community hospital experience, long-term acute care experience, and Trauma Level I experience.
• Additional Information: The emergency department serves approximately 140 patients per day and includes 46 beds. Patient care encompasses chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, respiratory illness, and respiratory arrest across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Typical staffing is one nurse to four patients, with assignments of up to five lower-acuity patients. Clinical resources include intravenous therapy teams, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, physical therapy, interpretation services, phlebotomy, transportation, and unit support. Specialized equipment includes a Belmont device for trauma care, a neonatal warmer, a rapid infuser, and a mechanical compression device for cardiac arrest response. The assignment begins 11/09/2026 and concludes 02/08/2027.
