Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for an Oncology Med/Surg unit requiring at least 1 year of experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 29-bed Oncology unit (7th floor) and outpatient area, with travelers working the inpatient floor only
• Patient population includes acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, and end-of-life care
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Outpatient patients may transition to the inpatient floor to complete treatment if running late
• Uses MEDITECH EMR
• Central telemetry monitoring in use, though reading strips is not required
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required in line with staff schedule
• Rare floating to medical acute units
• Charge nurse role is typically filled from the staffing grid unless unusual circumstances arise
• Nurse aide support available, generally 3 per day

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• ONS certification required for candidates wishing to administer chemotherapy, along with 2 years of specialty experience
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• No first-time travelers accepted for chemotherapy administration

Additional Information

• 3-day unit-specific orientation provided
• Scrub color required: Caribbean Blue
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement
• Not eligible for placement if previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months
