Campus Safety - Lead (WHS) 40 hours/week Grade 5 Start: August 10, 2026

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This work involves assisting the DHSSSW with mentoring, training, and scheduling the Campus Safety team. It also involves supervising students outside the classroom, assisting teachers with immediate disciplinary problems in the classroom, promoting student well‑being and safety, and providing assistance and direction to campus visitors. The role requires tactfulness, fairness, and sound judgment in dealing with a variety of problems and emergency situations. Employees in this position work within clearly established systems and procedures, exhibit organizational skills, and maintain confidentiality in performance of duties. The Campus Safety – Lead must demonstrate initiative and embrace a collaborative team approach to accomplish the district’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent. Physical ability to lift/move supplies, materials, and office equipment up to 40 lbs. Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods and/or move frequently between locations. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Proficiency in computer use, office practices, and equipment. Positive representation of the district to students, staff, and parents. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, parents, visitors, and the public. Awareness of students’ physical, social, and emotional needs. Valid driver’s license. Prior experience in safety or security fields. Knowledge of high school students’ needs and behavior patterns. Experience working with youth. Completion of district‑approved Crisis Prevention Institute training (CPI). Physical ability to move quickly and frequently across the school campus. Valid Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/AED Certificate or equivalent.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS

Assist the DHSSSW in the efficient and effective functioning of the school, including debriefing with the campus safety team. Support school safety and district crisis plans. Respond to emergency or crisis situations to address immediate safety concerns. Promote a safe school environment by observing and reporting student, parent, and visitor behavior on school property. Maintain a clean school environment and ensure school policies and procedures are followed schoolwide by supervising student behavior outside classrooms. Assist visitors by helping them obtain a visitor’s pass and directing them to the appropriate location. Support and supervise students in non‑academic settings. Assist students who appear ill, distraught, or otherwise in need by contacting parents or appropriate school personnel and referring to the appropriate services. Promote a clean school environment and correct student misperceptions of others by modeling appropriate behavior and/or talking to students. Assist the DHSSSW and School Resource Officer in escorting students to and from various locations. Participate in appropriate professional development activities to enhance job performance. Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff, students, and community members.
