Job Description The College of Engineering's Engineering Advising & Student Engagement (EASE) team has an outstanding opportunity for a Lead Academic Adviser to join their team. About this Opportunity Reporting to the Associate Director of Engineering Advising & Student Engagement, the Lead Academic Adviser provides advising, programs, and services to support first year Engineering Undeclared students who are clarifying their academic interests and goals and preparing for placement into majors. Additionally, this position manages the Engineering Peer Educator program, which is deeply embedded in the first-year student experience. - Manage the College of Engineering's Engineering Peer Educator (EPE) program, including vision-setting and implementation of the EPE program and GEN ST 199 in partnership with the Associate Director of Advising & Student Engagement.
- Collaborate with Emerging Leaders in Engineering (ELE) Program Managers to recruit, select, train, and support approximately 50 EPEs, 2 Lead EPEs, and 105 student leaders through ENGR 490/491, orientation, retreats, and pre-quarter training.
- Supervise Lead EPEs; develop curriculum, coordinate speakers, oversee grading, review lesson plans and teaching evaluation materials, and administer student learning outcomes assessment.
- Coordinate EPE involvement in Advising & Orientation and E-FIG programs; manage classroom concerns; collaborate with campus and college partners; and review Placement Request Forms to support engineering major placement.
- Provide one-on-one developmental advising for a caseload of approximately 250 Engineering Undeclared students, supporting academic planning, exploration of interests, educational purpose, career integration, and navigation of College and University requirements.
- Provide Quick Question drop-in advising accessible to all Engineering Undeclared students.
- Perform outreach and strengths-based advising for students who are not meeting continuation requirements.
- Collaborate with campus units to provide holistic advising services to Engineering Undeclared students.
- Provide support as needed to the engradv email account and contribute to annual updates of engineering major four-year plans.
- Support application review for College of Engineering programs and awards as needed.
- Communicate with College of Engineering IT and web development teams to update MyENGRUD and College of Engineering websites.
- Participate in professional development activities and perform duties that support the broader goals of the Student Academic Services team.
- Bachelor's degree in social science, science, engineering, humanities discipline or related field.
- Minimum four years of advising, student program management, and/or teaching experience

- Ability to provide an empathetic, professional, and efficient approach to working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including public speaking and ability to articulate ideas clearly.
- Adept at presenting to groups of 50+
- Ability to identify areas for improvement, set priorities, and initiate solutions as a strong independent contributor and collaborative team member.
- Demonstrated organizational skills including effectively managing various tasks in the context of a fast-paced environment while ensuring attention to detail, accuracy, and quality results.
- Experience successfully organizing, planning, and executing events.
