Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry Float Pool

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days (0645–1915) | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation with permanent staff

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a MedSurg/Telemetry Float Pool unit, managing a diverse patient population including those with ESRD, DM, COPD, and ETOH-related diagnoses
• Read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently; float to telemetry unit as the highest level of care assignment
• Operate and monitor patients on BiPAP and CPAP devices
• Document and manage patient care using Cerner PowerChart EMR
• Fulfill charge nurse responsibilities as assigned, which typically do not include a patient assignment
• Rotate into holiday scheduling alongside permanent staff; work every other weekend

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of California
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Demonstrated ability to independently read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Ability and willingness to float to telemetry and other units as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Basic arrhythmia course certification preferred
• Prior experience in a MedSurg/Telemetry or float pool setting
• Familiarity with Cerner PowerChart EMR
• Experience caring for patients with ESRD, DM, COPD, or ETOH-related conditions
