Senior Cost AccountantNew Pig Corporation - Senior Cost Accountant - Tipton, PA 16684 - Onsite, DaylightNew Pig is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to join our enterprise accounting team. This role is responsible for managing cost accounting activities across multiple manufacturing locations & entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, inventory valuation, & cost analysis. The Senior Cost Accountant works closely with Operations, Engineering, & Finance to improve costing processes, support decision-making, & maintain strong financial controls. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and improve the company's cost accounting systemAnalyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, overhead, scrap, & landed costsEstablish and monitor cost standards & investigate cost variancesPerform monthly, quarterly, & annual standard cost updatesMonitor inventory transactions, adjustments, shrinkage, scrap, & obsolescencePartner with Engineering & Production to maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs)Support continuous improvement of inventory & costing processesPrepare & post journal entriesReconcile balance sheet accounts monthlyAssist with monthly financial statements & support a three-day month-end closePrepare cost reports & present findings & recommendations to managementCommunicate significant cost changes & trends to leadershipDevelop financial models & cost analyses, including machine rates, activity-based costing, & variance reportingSupport budgeting & forecasting through cost analysis & historical dataRespond to audit requests & internal reporting needsCollect & analyze financial data for special projectsParticipate in cross-functional meetings to improve financial & operational performanceDevelop cost accounting processes for new products & co-manufactured itemsLead & develop a small team of cost accountantsPromote continuous improvement & strong internal controlsCollaborate effectively with Finance, Manufacturing, Engineering, & other departmentsQualificationsBachelor's degree in AccountingMinimum of 5 years' accounting experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with ERP/MRP systemsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, & OutlookStrong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, & U.S. GAAP. CPA preferred.Excellent analytical, organizational, & problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities & meet deadlinesStrong communication & interpersonal skillsAbility to interpret financial data & provide meaningful recommendations.Self-motivated, detail-oriented, & able to work both independently & collaborativelyCommitment to accuracy, professionalism, & continuous improvementPrevious experience supervising, mentoring, coaching of junior level cost accountants helpful
