ECT Assistant - Per Diem

This role will require a minimum of two or more scheduled shifts per month based on operational needs. Job Summary The Electroconvulsive (ECT) Assistant performs designated direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care under the direct supervision of the ECT Relief Registered Nurse (RN) and ECT Manager; arranges all communications and activities related to patient care; performs secretarial and clerical aspects of patient care; participates in development of interdisciplinary treatment plan; follows policies, protocols, techniques, and guidelines; utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service, safety, and professionalism; contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient and visitor population. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience Successful completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or completion of School of Nursing Fundamentals preferred. Minimum six months experience as a nursing assistant experience preferred. Minimum one year of experience in a hospital and/or acute psychiatric setting preferred. Knowledge and Skills Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; operate and troubleshoot patient care equipment required for the position; perform basic patient care activities using proper body mechanics and safety precautions. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; follow directions; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; collaborate with RN to problem solve; recalling formation with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; function within scope of practice. Able to distinguish colors, hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch. Licensures and Certifications Basic life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
