Registered Nurse Position Compensation The maximum budgeted bill rate applies. Submissions exceeding this rate will not be accepted. Candidate Requirements Candidates previously rejected for similar medical roles should not be submitted. Availability is required for any shift or hours, which may be adjusted to earlier or later times as necessary. Candidates must be available to work all days of the week, totaling 40 hours per week. The primary shifts currently needed are the 2nd and 3rd shifts. Candidates must be prepared to start immediately without any upcoming scheduling conflicts such as vacations, appointments, or educational commitments. Punctuality is critical; candidates must be present and ready to begin work at the scheduled shift start time (for example, if the shift starts at 7:00 AM, the candidate must be on the floor and prepared at 7:00 AM, not arriving at that time through security). Job Description The following duties are examples and may include some or all of the listed tasks, as well as other related responsibilities assigned. Primary Responsibilities Deliver professional nursing care to patients in a student health services unit or to individuals in state-operated facilities, including inmates, juvenile offenders, consumers, and staff. Observe, assess, and document patient symptoms, reactions, and progress in infirmary or outpatient clinic settings. Conduct nursing rounds and record vital signs. Prepare and administer prescribed medications, treatment plans, and immunizations. Regularly monitor restrained patients (e.g., every 15 minutes) and provide immediate medical attention during emergencies, including administering first aid, arranging hospital transport, contacting physicians, and counseling patients on medical referrals. If assigned, schedule, assign, and review the work of lower-level staff such as RNs and LPNs; this may include approving or denying leave requests and completing performance evaluations, though these tasks are not mandatory. Participate in staff development and educational activities. Review care plans prepared by staff and provide training and orientation for new employees. Corrections Medical Center Responsibilities Manage all health care for 20-60 bedridden inmates, including conducting rounds, evaluating care needs, developing care plans, and teaching health care principles. Administer medications, including narcotics, and provide all necessary direct nursing care. Perform specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusions, intubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy. Organize and lead the 'code blue' team. Supervise health care staff assigned to the area, including hospital aides and licensed practical nurses.
