Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 30-minute unpaid lunch | Schedules made 4 weeks in advance with self-scheduling (subject to manager balancing) | 2 weekends required per 4-week schedule

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a combined Surgical/Neuro Telemetry unit serving a diverse patient population including COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, TIA, CVA, and general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients
• Maintain a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio across a 48-bed unit (4A and 4B)
• Interpret and sign telemetry strips at least once per shift (remote monitoring and monitor techs are available; RNs are still required to interpret strips independently)
• Administer and manage set-rate drips (e.g., Diltiazem at a set rate); titration of drips is not required
• Operate and monitor respiratory equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and administer breathing treatments as needed
• May float to an alternate campus or PCU (if qualified) based on unit needs

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips
• Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, as well as CVA and TIA patient populations

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner EMR strongly recommended due to limited on-unit orientation (1 shift)
• Prior experience in a combined surgical/neuro telemetry setting
• Familiarity with respiratory support equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
