Rivers Health is seeking a Registered Nurse Lben for our Med/Surg department. Provides patient care based on the nursing process and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Essential Job Functions

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.

The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.

1. Provides direct patient care.
2. Administers medications including PO, IM and IV PB in a safe and timely manner. Accurately documents administration of medications.
3. Responsible for safe-guarding medications and narcotics.
4. Starts and assists with the maintenance of IV's.
5. Accurate documentation of care.
6. Assists with patient education, in collaboration with other disciplines.
7. Assists with unit cleanliness.
8. Assists with admission assessments and discharge assessments.
9. Respects patient privacy, rights and respects values of individual patients and provides care accordingly.
10. Takes responsibility as assigned for providing care for a given group of patients according to the care plan provided by the registered nurse. Works under direct supervision of a registered nurse.
11. Reports observations and pertinent information to registered nurse.
12. Works closely and harmoniously with registered nurse.
13. Assists in orienting new employees.
14. Administers nursing care in a safe and timely manner according to hospital policies, procedures and philosophy.
15. Completes all annual competencies.
16. Performs other duties that may be assigned.
17. Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
18. Must be able to cross-train to other units.
19. Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
20. Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration. Attends unit meetings.
21. Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.

Education And Formal Training

Graduate from school for Licensed Practical Nurse, and currently licensed in the state of West Virginia. BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
