You’ll play a key role in turning IT strategy into high-quality, scalable, and maintainable technology solutions while helping drive accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.You will provide both technical and people leadership, actively contributing to development efforts while guiding a team of developers, including employees and onshore/offshore consultants. You’ll help prioritize work, manage workloads, maintain a healthy development pipeline, and ensure your team follows established SDLC standards and delivers solutions that align with business priorities.Working collaboratively across the enterprise, you’ll partner with business analysts, architects, and business and IT stakeholders to clarify requirements, implement effective solutions, and support successful deployments. You’ll also help maintain production stability, improve development processes, and create an environment where your team can grow, perform, and deliver meaningful results.Primary Responsibilities:Partner with Application Development leadership to oversee the execution of software development and production support activities, including workload planning, capacity management, prioritization, work assignment, and delivery coordination to meet business objectives, project commitments, and established service levels.Lead, coach, and develop software developers through performance management, mentoring, feedback, and career development activities, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.Build and sustain a high-performing, collaborative team through recruiting, onboarding, retention, continuous feedback, professional development, and the promotion of organizational values, department culture, and enterprise goals.Serve as a management representative by communicating organizational priorities, promoting departmental culture and values, fostering positive employee relations, supporting change initiatives, and ensuring alignment between team activities and enterprise objectives.Support effective delivery by translating business requirements into actionable development work, validating estimates, tracking progress, managing incidents, enhancements, and defects, and communicating performance metrics related to delivery, quality, responsiveness, and operational effectiveness.Monitor and communicate team performance, development progress, code quality, production support responsiveness, application health, risks, constraints, and operational metrics while driving continuous improvements to ensure successful delivery of business objectives.Actively contribute to the development team by participating in software development, analysis, troubleshooting, and technical implementation activities supporting project delivery, departmental objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives while balancing supervisory responsibilities for approximately 40% of the role.Provide technical leadership through solution and code reviews, troubleshooting complex issues, mentoring team members, and establishing and enforcing development standards, non-functional requirements, SDLC practices, documentation standards, and change management processes that deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performing solutions.Partner with QA, UAT, and other stakeholders to ensure solutions are properly tested, documented, deployed, and supported while meeting expectations for production availability, stability, monitoring, and supportability.Partner with business analysts, architects, quality assurance teams, business stakeholders, and technology partners to ensure requirements are clearly defined, solutions are effectively implemented, and business and operational objectives are achieved.Foster a data-first mindset throughout solution delivery by emphasizing real-time integrations, partnering with data engineering and analytics teams, and driving continuous improvement in processes, tooling, automation, monitoring, and engineering practices.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience. Degrees in computer science or information systems preferred.Minimum seven (7) years of relevant IT work experience preferably in insurance or financial servicesMinimum three (3) years of supervisory, team leadership, or people management experience.Strong understanding of microservices architectures and enterprise applications to include Duck Creek Technologies, Kalepa, Salesforce, Service-Now, Digital portals, and API frameworks.Experience leading software development teams responsible for both project delivery and production support activities.Experience in platform development/configuration to include product configuration, business rules engines, low-code plugins, and commitment to focus on and work in forward looking solutions while leveraging CI/CD.Highly proficient in systems analysis, software development, monitoring instrumentation, and technical implementations.Experience developing and supporting enterprise applications utilizing modern Microsoft technologies including C#, .NET, Azure, Azure DevOps, SQL Server, APIs, and integration platforms.Strong understanding of software development methodologies, Kanban delivery practices, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.Experience reviewing development estimates, prioritizing work, and balancing competing project and operational demands.Experience performing code reviews, mentoring developers, and establishing technical direction for development efforts.Strong understanding of application support processes, incident management, troubleshooting, and production stability practices.Ability to lead technical discussions with developers while effectively communicating with non-technical business stakeholders.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a sense of urgency.Proven ability to exercise independent judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to attract, develop, mentor, and retain technical talent.Experience working with contractors, consultants, and offshore development resources preferred.Must be able to provide rotating on-call support of production systems.Work Environment & Physical RequirementsMust be legally authorized to work in the United States Office environment; this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, as directed by manager.Frequently sit at a desk or other workstation for extended periods of time Occasionally lift and carry equipment and/or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
