Aftercare Counselor

Description The Westfield Area YMCA is looking for caring, supportive and responsible individuals to join our team as Lead Counselors for school age children (K-5th) at our Garwood location, starting late August. Schedule Monday through Friday 2:30/3:00pm - 6:00pm. Flexible schedules available. Responsibilities Accompany children (to playground, and exterior of building) in order to supervise activities, such as outdoor play and fire drills. Must be able to set up the classroom for activities in a safe manner. Assist with transporting of children by bus, as needed, always following bus policy and procedures. Help plan free play and learning center activities. Use positive reinforcement and ensure a fun and safe environment for all participants in the program. Be enthusiastic and encourage children involvement.
