Job Title

Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on and collaborative Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Technician to support the development, setup, and integration of hardware-in-the-loop simulators for automotive active safety and automated driving systems.

This role will focus on bench wiring, harness creation, automotive communication systems, and 12-volt power systems to support the testing and validation of electronic control units (ECUs).

The ideal candidate will have practical experience working with electrical hardware, wiring, and automotive systems, along with the ability to collaborate closely with engineers and technicians to build and maintain simulation environments that replicate real-world vehicle conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, and modify electrical wiring harnesses and test benches, including power, CAN, LIN, and Ethernet connections.
  • Support the setup, integration, and maintenance of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation systems used to test automotive electronic control units (ECUs).
  • Connect and integrate hardware components with active safety and automated driving modules.
  • Assist in configuring and troubleshooting 12-volt automotive power systems and electrical connections.
  • Support automotive communication network connections and help troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to execute test setups, respond to project requirements, and support hardware integration activities.
  • Assist with ECU flashing, hardware configuration, and related testing activities as needed.
  • Help develop and maintain test environments that simulate real-world vehicle operating conditions.
  • Follow established safety procedures, wiring standards, and documentation practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Automotive Technology, or a related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant hands-on technical experience preferred; candidates with strong practical skills and directly applicable experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with bench wiring and electrical harness creation, including power, CAN, LIN, and Ethernet connections.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication systems and protocols.
  • Working knowledge of 12-volt automotive electrical power systems.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting, wiring, assembly, and hardware integration skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and technicians in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with dSPACE hardware or similar Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation platforms.
  • Experience with ECU flashing and configuration.
  • Familiarity with automotive electronic control units and vehicle active safety systems.
  • Exposure to hardware testing, validation, or automotive test bench development.

Team Environment

The successful candidate will join a 16-person tools team based in Milford, supporting the development and integration of HIL simulators for automotive active safety and automated driving applications.

The role involves frequent collaboration with engineers and other technicians to build, connect, and troubleshoot hardware systems that support vehicle module testing.

We are looking for someone who is energetic, collaborative, hands-on, and comfortable working directly with electrical hardware while responding to evolving engineering needs.
