Registered NurseJob Title: Registered NurseProfession: RN Specialty: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)Duration: 16 weeksShift: 12H Evenings Hours per Shift: 12 hoursExperience: Minimum of 2 years of experienceLicense: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALSMust-Have: PACU experience preferred; ICU or ED experience is also helpful.Description: The unit has 17 beds and only provides Phase 1 recovery. Travelers do not cover both Phase 1 and Phase 2. The nurse-to-patient ratio is maintained as required. Necessary certifications include BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Common cases require PACU experience, with emphasis on managing patients recovering from anesthesia. The team utilizes EMR, specifically Epic. Team Leads assist with coverage during lunches but do not take assignments. Respiratory therapists set up initial equipment for patients using vents, BiPap, or Cpap. ICU patients recover in this unit when there are no available ICU beds. The team regularly handles ICU patients overnight. Registered Nurses monitor EKGs and consult physicians for official readings. Self-scheduling is not permitted; shifts are assigned. Each employee works three 12-hour shifts per week, with designated day and night shifts. Employees are on a call schedule and may be required to cover weekend shifts. Weekend call is assigned quarterly, typically once every three months. Holiday call coverage follows an assigned rotation, with no more than one major holiday rotation per year. Response time for call is within 60 minutes. Staff do not float to other units. Scrubs are provided and managed through a vending system.
