Library Media Assistant

Library Assistant 8 hours per day, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 179 days per year; August - May Pay: $12.40 Paid health benefits for employee Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Proficiency in computers Demonstrate aptitude to use AV, video and laminating equipment. Familiar with or willing to become quickly comfortable with using a library media center. Ability to take directions, accepts responsibility, ask questions, and work positively with adults and children. Reports To: Library Media Specialist and Principal Supervises: Student Assistants Job Overview To assist the librarian in maintaining a clean, quiet, learning environment for students to use computers, check out books and conduct research. Essential Duties Prepare books, periodicals, and media for circulation. Be able to type all orders, bibliography reports, and class materials needed by the Library Media Specialist. Assist in inventory of all materials. Prepare displays and bulletin boards. Be open to learning any new skills that enhance the learning process provided by the Library Media Center. Assist in delivering audiovisual equipment to classrooms, etc. Comply with request of the Library Media Specialist that falls with generally accepted clerical responsibilities. Other duties as assigned. Terms of Employment: 185 days contract Work Environment: School Library Physical Requirements: This position requires speaking, hearing, standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting of no more than 30 pounds. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
