Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Position Summary This position will provide experienced organizational and technical support to help ensure facility environmental; health, safety, and sustainability programs continue functioning efficiently and effectively while maintaining full compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The role also assists with driving continuous improvement within the site's robust Safety Management System. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited EHS program is preferred, including Occupational Health and Safety, Compliance, Safety and Environmental Engineering, or other related degrees. Candidate will have 2-5 years' current, relevant, and successful experience in an EHS role. Certifications BCSP Certifications are preferred. DOT Hazmat Ground Shipper and First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications will be required. Reporting Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to varying audiences and respond to questions. Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions that are data-driven and risk-prioritized. Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have outstanding knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, and proficient knowledge of EHS Database software and Project Management software. Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. - Supports facility compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations and corporate policies for the purpose of providing a safe and healthful workplace.
- Plays an active role in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 program certification, auditing, and maintenance processes.
- Assists in developing and deploying dynamic and engaging EHS training programs for on-site and remote employees.
- Heavy involvement with site's Management of Change Program. Tracks MOC initiatives from initial consideration through implementation, corrective action development and resolution, and closure.
- Tracks and monitors Sustainability reporting data to ensure the facility meets or exceeds established KPIs.
- Assists with planning and conducting safety committee meetings and EOH&S Management System internal audits.
- Collaborate with area leadership to manage layered EHS auditing processes, job risk assessments, Safety/Environmental aspects and impacts reviews, corrective/preventative action development and resolution.
- Assures proper waste management, recycling, disposal, inspections, and assists with recordkeeping as required.
- Assists with the updating and development of environmental/safety policies, manuals and procedures for the facility.
- Investigates safety incidents, Near Misses, unsafe conditions and practices identified throughout the facility. May assist with workers' compensation claims management and follow-up.
Education
