Fleet Manager

Modular Genius, Inc. is seeking a qualified Fleet Manager to join our Operations Department. This position will report directly to the Operations Managers and will work closely with operations, purchasing, and service teams to improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, control costs, and support overall company success.

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, compliance, utilization, and lifecycle management of the company's modular unit fleet and company vehicles. The primary objective is to ensure all assets are safe, operational, compliant, and cost-effective in support of modular building logistics and customer delivery schedules.

General Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, customer requirements, and site-specific safety standards. Promote and support a company-wide culture where safety is a core value
• Comply with all company policies outlined in the Modular Genius Employee Handbook
• Ensure company assets are maintained to support operational excellence and customer satisfaction

Key Responsibilities:

Asset Maintenance & Refurbishment:

• Oversee cleaning, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of modular units to ensure readiness for reassignment
• Establish quality standards for asset condition and presentation

Fleet & Vehicle Management:

• Manage acquisition, maintenance scheduling, repairs, inspections, and disposal of company vehicles
• Ensure all fleet vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant with DOT regulations

Vendor & Contractor Management:

• Identify, recruit, and evaluate third-party vendors for specialized work beyond internal capabilities
• Negotiate service agreements and pricing to optimize value and performance

Quality Control & Inspection:

• Develop and implement inbound inspection procedures for returning modular units and equipment
• Establish and enforce quality control standards for fleet readiness

Inventory & Logistics Coordination:

• Track asset assignments across branch locations
• Manage purchase orders for parts, equipment, and fleet-related materials
• Coordinate logistics to maximize utilization and minimize downtime

Team Leadership:

• Supervise yard personnel and drivers
• Promote accountability, productivity, safety compliance, and professional development

Qualifications & Skills:

Required Qualifications:

• Previous modular building industry experience preferred
• Valid driver's license
• Reliable transportation
• U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States

Technical & Operational Skills:

• Knowledge of modular building components preferred and general vehicle mechanics
• Experience with fleet management, routing, dispatching, and inventory control
• General carpentry and mechanical aptitude
• Willingness to operate forklifts and skid steers (training and certification provided by Modular Genius)

Regulatory Knowledge:

• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA regulations and compliance standards

Professional Skills:

• Strong budgeting, cost analysis, and vendor negotiation skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams)
