The Director of Investments is a senior member of the multi-asset team who serves as a high-performing generalist across public equity, public fixed income, and specializes in support of TJU's corporate venturing strategy. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer and working closely with the Deputy CIO, Managing Director, Multi-Asset, and Managing Director, Jefferson Ventures, the Director helps shape the strategy for marketable assets, serves as the key analyst liaison to the public markets managers, and portfolio construction within the marketable portfolio, and contributes to total-portfolio asset allocation decisions. In addition, the Director of Investments will be a critical contributor to the continued development and maturity of Jefferson's corporate venturing strategy including network development, end-to-end investment valuation, underwriting, structuring, and presentation for approval. The Director is responsible both for investment outcomes within marketable assets and for the development of investment professionals working in the Investment Office. The Director also leads the Office's engagement with external investment partners on the marketable side, under an extension-of-staff model in which the Office retains all decision-making authority and direct ownership of manager relationships.

Job Duties
Strategy and Portfolio Construction
- Partner with the Managing Director, Multi-Asset, Deputy CIO, and CIO on the investment strategy for the marketable portfolio, including target exposures across public equity and public fixed income.
- Lead portfolio construction within marketable assets, including manager sizing, concentration limits, factor exposures, liquidity, and risk budgeting, in coordination with the MD Multi-Asset.
- Contribute substantively to total portfolio asset allocation, capital markets assumptions, and rebalancing decisions.
- Develop and refine the framework for blending active, systematic, and passive implementation within marketable assets.
Manager Selection and Oversight
- Develop the firm's roster of marketable managers; lead diligence and recommendations on new commitments and material redemptions, with the MD Multi-Asset and CIO as final approvers.
- Maintain senior-level relationships with portfolio managers, CIOs, and senior personnel at external manager firms.
- Serve as a senior representative of the Investment Office in major manager interactions, including allocation discussions and capacity negotiations.
- Oversee ongoing monitoring, including performance review, exposure analysis, risk reporting, and personnel / process change tracking.
Investment Committee and Governance
- Contribute to investment recommendations and portfolio reviews for the Investment Committee and Board; present alongside or in support of the MD Multi-Asset and CIO.
- Support investment policy development for marketable assets, including risk limits, liquidity policy, and benchmarking.
- Partner with the Director of Operations and Performance Reporting / Analytics on reporting standards, valuation policies, and performance measurement for marketable assets.
Leadership and Talent Development
- Directly contribute to the development junior members of the team and provide guidance and performance feedback.
- Foster a high-performance, collegial, and intellectually rigorous team culture.
- Participate in Investment Office leadership decisions, including planning, budgeting, talent strategy, and external engagement.
External Partners
- Lead the Office's engagement with external investment partners on the marketable side as an extension of the team, leveraging partner scale, sourcing, and specialty expertise.
- Ensure the Office retains decision-making authority and direct ownership of all manager relationships, with external partners augmenting (not replacing) internal capability.
- Establish operating norms, information flows, and accountability standards for the partner relationship.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10 years of relevant institutional investment experience, with a substantial portion focused on marketable assets and external manager investing.
- 5 years demonstrable experience in venture capital or corporate venturing.
- Demonstrated success leading manager selection, portfolio construction, and risk management across public equity and public fixed income.
- Strong fundamental investment judgment combined with quantitative and risk analytical fluency.
- This role will be highly external and will be the representation of TJU externally.
- Candidate should present as affable, but forthright.
- Track record of building and maintaining senior-level relationships with leading public markets managers.
- Experience presenting to investment committees and / or boards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree MBA, CFA, or comparable advanced credential strongly preferred.
- Direct experience at an endowment, foundation, OCIO, non-profit health system or insurance payor, or other sophisticated multi-asset institutional allocator.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in healthcare-related venture investing.
- Experience leading or substantially contributing to total portfolio asset allocation.
- Familiarity with portfolio risk and analytics platforms and modern multi-asset risk frameworks.
- Experience working with external investment partners, consultants, or OCIO providers in an extension-of-staff capacity.
- Experience managing professionals and developing junior investment talent.
Additional Qualifications
- Physical Demands Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
