Costumer, Professional Expert (Temporary)

Professional Expert – Temporary, Short-Term Assignment: Representative Duties Coordinate with the director, lighting, sound designers, and other creative personnel such as hair stylists and makeup artists in the design of each costume. Design, sew, and fit costumes for theater productions. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to two years’ experience in costume design, construction, alterations, and fitting. Knowledge Of Terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of costume design. Appropriate backstage health, safety, and operational standards. Ability To Alter and dye costumes. Manage time effectively and handle workload accurately and efficiently. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with technical and non-technical workers, faculty, students, and outside renters. Cross‑train in other Theatre Technician assignments. Work with frequent interruptions while maintaining strong detail orientation, flexibility, and composure under time pressures. Follow established backstage health, safety, and operational practices and procedures. Work a flexible schedule, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by performance schedules. Physical Effort Ability to exert some physical effort such as walking, climbing, standing, reaching, pulling, lifting 20 lbs., bending, and twisting. Ability to maintain effective audio‑visual discrimination and perception for communicating with others. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Working Conditions Work is performed indoors. Rehearsal and performance hours may vary. While performing the duties, the employee may be required to travel. Visa AVC does not sponsor visas.
