Job Opportunity – Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU) RN – North Carolina

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required, float within facility as needed

Highlights:

• Work in a comprehensive stroke center with a robust neurocritical care patient population including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subdural hematomas, craniotomies, and post-neurosurgical patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 (may flex to 3:1 during high census), with an average daily census of 11-12 patients
• Utilize advanced neurological equipment including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino ICP monitors, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun therapy systems
• 24-hour orientation period with interdisciplinary team support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• Electronic charting system: Epic EMR with Pyxis medication management
• Contract duration: 13 weeks, with assignments available through late February

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience required (strong neurocritical care background essential)
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
• Active certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Proficiency in ventilator management, IV starts, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery care, and isolation precautions
• Experience with lumbar drains strongly preferred
• Arterial line management experience preferred
• Ability to float within the facility as needed
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions available)
• Must successfully pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
