Primary Location United States – Texas – HOUSTON Job Office and Administrative Support Employee Status Regular Schedule Full-time; Travel Moderate Salary / Pay Basis Monthly: $5,643.63 (RET 2.5% Less) Job Summary Performs advanced parole administration and supervision work. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Functions Plans, schedules, and supervises parole administration activities, ensuring compliance with agency policies, procedures, standards, and objectives. Coordinates parole supervision activities with other units, departments, and other entities; develops and implements policies and procedures; prepares reports and other related documents. Reviews workload statistics, caseload assignments, and case reports; directs parole officers in developing new sources of information and improving casework techniques. Coordinates and conducts parole investigations of highly confidential matters; directs actions to be taken on specific cases. Supervises activities to monitor offender compliance with the conditions of supervision, including alcohol and drug testing. Performs criminal information searches and retrieval using Texas Department of Public Safety criminal history system access. Provides training and technical guidance to program staff. Performs a variety of marginal duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (CHEA or USDE), with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field preferred. Each year of experience in excess of the required four years may be substituted for thirty semester hours on a year‑for‑year basis (maximum substitution of two years). Four years full‑time wage‑earning experience in criminal justice, case management, case processing, or military. Two years full‑time wage‑earning experience supervising employees. Parole officer experience preferred. Technical review or program evaluation experience preferred. Teaching, training, or staff development experience preferred. Must meet and maintain Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS) access eligibility. Must have a valid Texas state driver license. Must complete a Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) policy and procedures training within six months of employment (certificate of completion). Must maintain TLETS access eligibility; see Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of principles of criminology and penology. Knowledge of principles, methods, techniques, and practices of parole case management. Knowledge of psychological concepts of behavior, social adjustment, and emotional stability. Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes regarding pardons and parole. Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations (preferred). Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely. Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public. Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports. Skill in problem‑solving techniques. Skill to conduct investigations. Skill to plan work to meet established guidelines. Skill to train others. Skill to supervise the work of others. Additional Requirements Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle and motor equipment. Work conditions include working inside, working around machines with moving parts, radiant and electrical energy, chemicals used for urinalysis, working closely with others, alone, protracted/irregular hours, traveling by car, van, bus, airplane. Equipment used may include computer, calculator, copier, fax machine, urinalysis equipment, firearms, telephone, dolly, automobile.
