POSITION TITLE: Non-Foods and General Merchandise Clerk
DEPARTMENT: Grocery
REPORTS TO: Store Director
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing and managing the operations within the HBA and GM sections of a retail store.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Assist in unloading and checking in all department merchandise.
2) Transport stock for storage to stock areas.
3) Open cartons and check invoices accurately to confirm the accuracy of the delivery.
4) Planning and executing in-store promotions and sales events.
5) Ensuring that promotional materials (e.g., posters, flyers) are properly tagged displayed.
6) Monitor store levels on the shelf and keep fully stocked according to tag allocations.
7) Assist in building store displays for general merchandise and seasonal sections.
8) Keep dated merchandise rotated and pull out-of-code products as needed.
9) Control the level of damaged goods by proper handling of merchandise.
10) Properly present assigned section prior to leaving at the end of scheduled work shift and check out with the manager in charge.
11) Observe policies and procedures established for each department.
12) Greet customers who come into the store and are observant while on the sales floor.
13) Maintain a neat appearance according to the company's dress code policy.
14) Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Maintenance of price and protection program.
2) Housekeeping of sales and back room areas.
3) Assist with front-end service when needed.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1) Ability to read and write to properly tag merchandise, maintain proper inventory level and ensure rotation of product.
2) Ability to unload, transport, and place merchandise in specific areas.
3) Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds at least forty percent (40%) of the time.
4) Must have the ability to retrieve and place merchandise on the top racks in the grocery aisles for proper storage. The top racking process may be 20% of the time working in the aisles during the shift.
5) Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
6) Must be able to stand upright for most of your scheduled work shift.
