Paralegal - District Attorney

Responsibilities Prepare and perform routine legal work for court appearances, including legal research, preparing briefs and motions, and interviewing witnesses. Collaborate with legal counsel during trial preparation. Conduct investigative work supporting trial activities of the Criminal District Attorney’s Office. Review, redact, and Bates‑label all discovery documents, whether for formal or informal discovery. Send emails to legal liaisons requesting copies of files for discovery. Transport CPS files to the Print Mail Department for copying and scanning onto flash drives. Prepare receipts for copies of files provided to opposing counsel and ad litems. Download copies of files to CD‑Rs for opposing counsel and department CD files. Prepare Orders to Participate and Aid to Investigations. Assist in preparing orders and/or pleadings required by supervising attorneys. Draft formal discovery requests and responses. Prepare removal pleadings, Rule 11 agreements, and notices of intent. Use computerized data entry equipment to prepare legal documents, correspondence, and reports. Participate in investigations of various parties and documentation associated with civil cases to be tried by the county. Investigate cases and assist county employees in litigation and non‑litigation legal work. Perform highly responsible secretarial‑administrative work serving as a program assistant in the Criminal District Attorney’s office. Assist in budget preparation and administration, and maintain a variety of records and reports to relieve professional‑level staff of day‑to‑day administrative details. Ensure regular and punctual attendance. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Associate’s degree and a minimum of two years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Paralegal certification required.
